Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTEUNIS (TONY) ALDERT MULDER January 8 1912 - November 25, 1999 Peacefully at the Steinbach Hospital on November 25, 1999, at the age of 87, after a short battle with cancer. Teunis was predeceased by his wife of more than 50 years, Catherina Johanna Den Boer in 1993 and a son Roelof Hendrick Mulder in 1989. Left to cherish his memory are his three sons, Teunis Albert (Tosca) of the Netheralands, Arend-Jan of Marchand, MB, Boudewijn Sjoerd "Pete" (Hana) of Winnipeg, MB and his 11 grandchildren Willem, Don, Renee, Anna, Melanie, Jan, Ethan, Tracy, Trevor, Shannon, David. He is also survived by his sisters, Ge Steenmeyer, Trien Schillern of the Netherlands, Lydia Tigchelaar of Selkirk, MB and his sister-in-law Ada Den Boer-Van Egmond of the Netherlands. Teunis was born in Viersen, Germany and returned to the Netherlands during the Second World War. After graduating as a cabinet maker in 1930 he went on to obtain a psychiatric nursing degree in 1936 and a Registered Nursing degree in 1938. He then specialized in Occupational Therapy working in the Mague Netherlands until the family immigrated to Canada in March, 1949. After building a family home in Birch River, MB and working as a carpenter and painter, he started working at Selkirk Mental Hospital in 1950 as their first trained occupational therapist. In 1957 he became a Hospital Officer at Stony Mountain Penitentiary until 1971 when he moved from Selkirk to build his retirement home in Marchand, MB. The family extends their gratitude to the Ste. Annes homecare workers that have looked after our father at his home for the past five years as well as the Doctors & Staff at Steinbach Hospital for his care in his final few weeks. At his request no service was held at his cremation. In celebration of his life the family extends an invitation to his friends to attend an informal gathering at the home of Pete & Hana Mulder, 43 Braeside Pl. Winnipeg on Friday, December 3 between 2:00 and 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to The Steinbach Bethesda Hospital Palliative Care Unit.
