FLORENCE MCKETCHEN May 4, 1923 - November 27, 1999 It is with great sadness that the family announce the passing of their dear Mother and Grandmother on Saturday, November 27, 1999, at the Selkirk General Hospital. After a short illness and with her loved ones at her side, Mom peacefully went home. Florence was born on May 4, 1923 in Selkirk, Man. and lived there her entire life. She is survived by her only son Bill (Pat), her only daughter and special life partner Joan and her cherished Granddaughters Leslie Anne and Lindsay. She leaves to mourn her passing, her special friends Myrtle and Victor Helgason. Florence is also survived by her brother Paul Hawes of Selkirk and sister Ivy Johnson of Vancouver, BC. Florence was predeceased by her parents Cyril and Bill Hawes, husband George, brothers John, James and Robert and a sister, Lorna. Mom was a simple lady who devoted her life to her family. Her relationship with her children was one of quiet dedications and she will be missed deeply. Her family and friends give thanks and praise for this little lady with the big voice and huge spirit. Her size was no indication of the soul and spirit within her, nor a reflection of her strength and preserverence. From her we have all learned the true meaning of giving of herself and for this we will never forget her. A celebration of Moms life will be held on Tuesday, November 30, at 1:00 p.m. at Gilbart Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to ARC Industries, Selkirk, Man.
