HELEN RIEDIGER (HELENE DESROCHERS) Suddenly at the St. Boniface Hospital on November 26, 1999, Helen passed away at the age of 70 years. Elder daughter of the late Alexandre Desrochers and Esther Collins, Helene was born in Glenora, Manitoba. The family soon moved to St. Boniface where Helene attended St. Josephs Academy. After her studies, Helene worked for 35 years at the Eaton Catalogue warehouse and retired when the Catalogue Centre closed. Married to Rudy Riediger in 1963, they spent 36 beautiful happy years together. The last years of her life were marked with severe illnesses and major surgeries. Helene remained courageous throughout all these and they did not deter her from most of her usual activities. She continued to enjoy to its fullest life and the many pleasures and interests that were hers. She thought daily of her relatives and her many friends to whom she generously and frequently showered with attention and gifts. Helene leaves to mourn her beloved husband Rudy; her brother Bill (Diane) her sister Rose, of the Congregation of the Holy Names; her precious nephews and their children, Gilbert Desrochers (Sandy), his children Angela (and her two daughters, Lindsay and Hayley), Robert and Chantale, all of Vancouver; Guy Desrochers (Shirley Mae) and his two daughters, Tamara and Alexis, all of Saskatoon. Helene cherished each one as if they were her own children and how they loved "Auntie Helene" and never missed any opportunity to visit with her and "Uncle Rudy". Helenes love of children was such that she accepted, throughout the years, to be the proud godmother to 32 children. She will also be lovingly remembered by her dear uncle Bill Collins (Gertrude) her dear aunt Grace Audette and numerous cousins; six sisters-in-law; Betty Ozero (Jo), Ethel Cizik (Nick), Stella Riedeger, Helen Riediger, all of Winnipeg; Gretta Riediger of Florida; Maggie Riediger of Alberta. Besides her parents, Helene was predeceased by a dear nephew, Robert Desrochers. The family members wish to extend their sincere appreciation to the Rescue team, to Dr. Greene and the emergency staff of St. Boniface Hospital and to Alex Drobot of the pastoral team. Private family viewing will be on Monday, November 29 at 3:00 p.m. at the Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Des Meurons Street and public viewing from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday also. The funeral service will be held at the Desjardins Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, November 30 at 11:00 a.m. Donations to the Manitoba Diabetic Society would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to DESJARDINS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 233-4949. FOREVER LOVED, FOREVER MISSED! I love you, Rudy.
