JEAN MCINTOSH It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our wife, mother, grandmother, nana and sister, Jean McIntosh on Saturday, November 27, 1999 at the Portage District General Hospital. She fought a long and courageous battle with Parkinson Disease. Jean was born on April 21, 1918, the daughter of John and Jane Anne Watson of Rossendale. she was raised and educated in the Allendale School District. On October 25, 1941 she married Preston McIntosh and they farmed in the Rossendale district for 50 years, retiring to Portage in 1991. Jean was a member of the Rossendale United Church and an active member of the Currie Ladies Aid Group. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends. She was known far and wide for her delicious butter tarts. Mom was a very giving person and her family will remember her as a wonderful role model. In her earlier years she enjoyed playing baseball, but her special times were spent with her family and especially her grandchildren. Jean was predeceased by her parents, grandson David Burch, and four brothers, Johnny, Charlie, Frank and Jimmy Watson and her oldest sister Bella Hird. She leaves to mourn her passing her husband Preston; daughter Alexie and Ted ONeill of Toronto; grandchildren, Brad, Jason (Jennifer), Christopher and Jillian, daughter Lorna Lacombe and Noel Martin of Winnipeg; grandchildren Dale (Jennifer) Lana-Rae (Toby), daughter Lois and Carl Burch of Brandon; grandchildren, Jennalee, Shawna, Brittany, David (deceased) and Cody; great-grandchildren Kelsey, Jordan and Colton. Also surviving are sisters Mary Laing of Portage and Alice Fraser of Winnipeg; sisters-in-law Eva and Margaret Watson of Portage la Prairie and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of the Omega Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 30 at 1:30 p.m. with Mrs. Wilma Shiriff officiating. Private family committal will follow at the family plot in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home for visitation on Monday evening from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Should friends so desire memorial donations may be made to the Parkinson Foundation of Canada, 204-825 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1M5 or charity of choice.
