KATHERINE PASTULA On Saturday, November 27, 1999, at the Manitoba Development Centre, Portage la Prairie, Katherine Pastula, a longtime resident of the Manitoba Developmental Centre, passed away at the age of 82 years. Funeral Service will be held at the Aspen Worship Centre, Manitoba Developmental Centre, on Wednesday, December 1, at 1:30 p.m. with Chaplain Ron Siemens officiating. The service will terminate at the Worship Centre with cremation to follow. Interment of the cremated remains will follow at a later date in the family plot at Beausejour, Manitoba. Katherine was born on January, 5, 1917, daughter of Ludwig and Clara Pastula, at Winnipeg. She resided with her family until they were no longer able to attend to her special needs, so in 1954 she became a resident of the Manitoba Developmental Centre. At the Centre Katherine quickly made her way into the hearts of the staff who considered her to be a sweetheart. Katherine had a mischievous nature and enjoyed teasing the staff. Her favourite time was coffee breaks. For another cup of her favourite beverage she would rattle her cup until it was filled. She will be sadly missed by all the staff at the Centre, especially those on Groveby North. Predeceased by her parents, four brothers, Eddie at the age of 5 years, Joe, Stanley and Bill Pastula, sister Ella Medyk; she leaves to mourn her passing three sisters, Betty (Bill) Rosin; Louise Lezak all of Winnipeg; Vickie Mackew and special friend Nick Kowalchuk of Beausejour; three sisters-in-law: Toni of Beausejour; Lena of Winnipeg; Doreen of Duncan, British Columbia and several nieces and nephews. The Omega Funeral Home, Portage la Prairie, in care of the arrangements.
