Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNOREEN ST. GODARD (nee TYNAN) Noreen St. Godard (nee Tynan), formerly of Flin Flon, MB, died in Red Deer, AB on November 27, 1999, following a stroke. Born November 17, 1924, in Gull Lake, SK., Mom grew up in Montreal, and moved to Flin Flon in the late 1930s. She married Dad (Henry St. Godard) in Flin Flon on September 20, 1948, and they had five children, Sue (Harv) of Winnipeg, Debi (Gord) of Houston, Texas, Ted of Winnipeg, Louise (Steve) of St. Albert and John of Montreal. Having completed a business course following high school, Mom returned to work in the early 1960s, and worked until her retirement in the mid 1980s for the Flin Flon local of the United Steelworkers of America, a job she loved dearly (due in no small part to the fact that she was allowed to rule the roost). Their children grown and independent, Mom and Dad experienced the very good fortune of a relatively long and healthy retirement, ture "golden years". They particularly enjoyed a number of winter retreats with their friends, Ted and Lois Smith, at whose urging they ultimately moved to Red Deer in 1987, where they became part of a close-knot circle of expatriate Flin Flonners, most notably Toddy and Lloyd Kreller. For a number of years they wintered in Tucson, Arizona, where they made many new friends, and played and relaxed as was their due. A bright and witty woman, Mom read voraciously, and took great pleasure in her daily cross word puzzles; she will be remembered by many with her glasses low on her nose, a newspaper in her lap, and a pencil in her hand. More than anything Mom loved her family, her husband and partner of 51 years, and their children and grandchildren, Sues Jill (26) and Todd (23), Debis Curt (15) and Leslie (13), Teds Stefan (6) and Lous Crystal (18). Our struggles have been her struggles and our triumphs her joys; we all will miss her terribly. Our grief and the fortitude with which we bear it are her legacy. Aside from her immediate family, Mom is survived only by her younger brother Brian Tynan of Great Falls, Montana. Funeral services will be held at Eventide Funeral Chapels. If friends so desire, memorial tributes can be made to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, 6th Floor, 9707 - 110 St., Edmonton, AB T5K 9Z9. Arrangements in care of Eventide Funeral Chapels, 4820 - 45th St., Red Deer; phone (403) 347-2222.
