Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDITH DOREEN CLERIHEW It is with deep sorrow that the family announces the passing of their mother Doreen Clerihew at the age of 83 on November 29, 1999. Predeceased by her husband Albert in 1995; her mother Ethel Flinn in 1971 and her father William Flinn in 1970. She is survived by her daughters, Gail Kyritz (Klaus) and grandchildren, Kristopher (Anne-Marie) and Kimberly, Bonnie Bowman (Wayne) and granddaughter Lindsay; a sister Edna Hunt (Frank) and many nieces and nephews. Doreen was born December 16, 1915 and grew up in Sanford, Man. In 1941 she married Albert Clerihew and they farmed in the Sanford area. In 1951 the family moved to Winnipeg. Mom was a very special person who established many friendships over the years. Teaching gave her great joy. She was also an active member of Harrow United Church. Furthermore, Doreen took great pleasure in socializing with her bridge club members. On their retirement, Ab and Doreen took many well deserved and enjoyable holidays, including visits with family. Mom was a very caring and giving individual who took great pride in her children and grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff at 3-E Riverview Hospital for their compassion and outstanding care. Our gratitude is also extended to Dr. I. Maxwell and the staff at Victoria General Hospital. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Doreens memory may be made to the Manitoba Cancer Foundation at 100 Olivia St., Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0V9. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 3 at Harrow United Church, 955 Mulvey Ave., Rev. Bill Millar officiating. Reception to follow the service. ALWAYS LOVED, ALWAYS MISSED, AND VERY DEAR TO OUR HEARTS.

I forgot to add that the story comes full circle when my daughter was attending High School in Selkirk and had to write a report. She ended up writing it about the Sarah Moore/Flinn/Nugent's son Ethelbert Nugent. When the Moore family (family history junkies like me) gathered together at Little Brittan Church my daughter read the story. Back to when Poor Ann who felt so bad about her little brother and then lost her other 1/2 brother in the war. A distant cousin remembers then in a tribute many years later. All because of the help from family like Doreen who kept the family stories alive. I hope you find this as interesting as I do of those who past before us. Please accept my late condolences to the family of (Edith) Doreen Flinn. Doreen would be my 2 cousin 2 times removed. Sadly living close we never met but because of her family search and letter to Hecla regarding a mutual family member I learned so much from her and I am very grateful to her for that. Her father William Flinn was the son of Edwin Flinn who died in 1882 married to Sarah Jane Moore -1941. Edwin rests in a grave in Gull-Harbour (Hecla) They worked hard and went through some very hard times. After Edwin died Sarah married Theodore Nugent. In 1983 3 year old Bruce was exposed to measles when his 1/2 sister Ann daughter of Edwin came home from visiting in Selkirk being exposed and bringing it home to Bruce. She felt very guilty and kept his small personal items until she went to the care home herself. Then there son Ethelbert Nugent died in 1919 after being in the war. He made it home on the hospital ship but died at the King George Hospital. Without the research of family like Doreen all this would have been lost. I am very grateful for the stories they left behind. May they RIP and join again in heaven. Should family want any information they are welcome to contact me.
