GWILYM ROBERT (BOB) JENKYNS God called Bob Jenkyns home to eternal peace on Sunday, November 28, 1999. Born in Winnipeg, July 6, 1912, he was predeceased by his loving wife of 54 years, Rhoda (nee Mattinson). He also leaves to mourn his son David and his wife Sandra of Muskego, Wisconsin; grandson Bob and his wife Renee and great-grandson Chris, Merton, Wisconsin; granddaughter Jennifer and her husband Mark, great-grandsons, Justin and Tommy, Morton Grove, Illinois. Brothers, Ken and his wife Kay, St. Albert, Alta., Dr. Arthur and wife Una, Calgary, Alta.; and sister-in-law Jean, Nepean, Ont.; nieces and nephews and respective families were deeply treasured by Bob. An extended step-family: Lisa and Paul Meyer, Andrew and Kevin, Madison, Wisconsin; Rob and Nancy Bass, Brady and Brittany, Brooklyn Park, Minn. will miss his warm, caring presence. Bob was baptized and a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Winnipeg. His faith was exemplified by his honour of God, commitment to family and service to others. He held several positions with C.P.R.s Passenger Traffic Services Department, retiring with over 45 years of dedicated, loyal service. Typical of Bob was his other-centeredness for travellers and staff. No one was a stranger! Bob was active in DeMolay as a young man, receiving the distinguished (Chevalier) Degree. The remainder of his life was spent in continual fellowship with others in the DeMolay Alumnae. He also was active in many Winnipeg service organizations. Bob loved his family and friends. He enjoyed golf, bowling, curling, bridge and gardening. Bob loved Winnipeg and that famous Manitoba sunshine! Cremation has taken place and there was a private family interment of ashes in Brookside Cemetery. A memorial service will be held in Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 4. A reception celebrating Bobs life will follow. Flowers gratefully declined. Those who wish may contribute in Bobs memory to Operation Eyesight Universal (founded in part by his brother, Art), 4 Parkdale Cres. N.W., Calgary, Alta. T2N 9Z9; or to a charity of choice. Bobs presence will be deeply missed by one and all, but his spirit will live within our hearts and souls eternally. Praise God. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
