LORNE INGIBERG MARKUSSON It is with great sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of our husband, father, son, brother and friend, Lorne Ingiberg Markusson. Lorne, age 39, died accidentally in a traffic mishap in Winnipeg, November 27,1999. Left to mourn his tragic and untimely passing are his loving wife Gail and children, Kristjan, Johann, Justin and Lindsey; parents Gudmundur and Ethel Markusson; sisters, Shauna Trueman (Bob), Jo-Ann Brignoly (Steven) Amma and Afi, Emily and Joe Markusson; in-laws, Tony and Pearl Natyna; Grandma Mary Natyna; sister-in-law Debbie Natyna-Hill and by his uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews. Lorne was born in Gimli, April 18, 1960. He attended school in Gimli and enjoyed hockey growing up. At an early age he began helping at the family store and eventually became a butcher. Summers he worked for the town of Gimli until he graduated in June 1978. Lorne and Gail were high school sweethearts and married in 1978, when they moved to Winnipeg. He was employed with East West Packers until June 1979 when he hired on with CN Rail, spending the last 20 years as a locomotive engineer. Lorne was just like one big teddy bear, kind and gentle, with a big heart and always willing to lend a helping hand. The pride and joy of his life was his family. He was a devoted husband and father who treasured each and every moment. Lorne enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 1 at 2:00 p.m. in Gimli Lutheran Church, Gimli, MB. with Pastor George Johnson officiating. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Markusson Children Trust Fund, c/o the Gimli Credit Union, Gimli, MB.
