JEANIE BREMNER DUNCAN Peacefully, at the River East Personal Care Home, on November 29, 1999, at the age of 86. Born in 1913 in East Kildonan, Jeanie lived her entire life in the East/North Kildonan area. Jeanie worked for 35 years in the hosiery and glove department of Eatons mail order. She retired with the closing of the mail order. Family was very important to Jeanie and many years of her life were dedicated to caring for her mother and her brother Wick during his illness. She was like a mother to her beloved "little brother," nephew "Bobby," playing a large part in his upbringing. Shopping excursions to the States with Jeanie were the highlights of many summer holidays for her nephews and niece. Over the years, Jeanie brightened the lives of her family with hand-knit sweaters, needlepoint pictures, exquisite gift wrapping and Christmas grab bags. Predeceased by her parents, James and Barbara; brothers James, John, and William (Wick) sister Helen; sisters-in-law, Margaret and May. Jeanie is survived, and will be sadly missed, by her sister Dorothy Haycock; sister-in-law Mae Duncan; nephews, Bob (Anne) Duncan, Jack (Rose) Duncan, Wayne Haycock, Keith (Shelly) Haycock; niece Barbara (Nick) Marcyniuk; great-nieces and nephews, Janice (Adrian) Labarre, Alison (Pat) Loschiavo, Tricia (Marcel) Roy, Trevor Haycock, Kevin Cameron, Heather (Kyle) Wagner, Lindsay and Scott Duncan, Ashley and Cody Haycock; great-great-nieces and nephews, Amberly, Vincent, Brendan, and Kayla. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway, Thursday, December 2, at 2:00 p.m., with the Rev. Ian Manson officiating. The family would like to thank Dr. I. Mohammed, the staff of Concordia Hospital Personal Care Unit and the River East Personal Care Home for their care of Jeanie. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the River East Personal Care Home, Activity Department, 1375 Molson Ave., Winnipeg, R2K 4K8, or a charity of your choice.
