DONALD ARTHUR MURDOCH On Wednesday, December 1, 1999 at Grace Hospital, surrounded by his family, Don passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Winnipeg on June 8, 1938, Don resided in St. James his entire life. After five years service in the R.C.N., Don joined the Winnipeg Police Department March, 1962, retiring February, 1989. Ten years of service with the Province of Manitoba from March 1989 to February 1999 was his second career. Don was predeceased by his Mother Ina, in 1962; his Father Arthur in 1970 and sister, Doreen Walton in 1998. Surviving Don are his loving wife Anne (nee Skaritko) of 34 years; daughters, Leslie (Carey) Chudley, Kimberly (Brian) Murdoch; son Steven (Paula) and his beloved grandsons, Chase Murdoch Harrison and Nicholas Lane Chudley. Also surviving are sisters, Helen Murdoch, Isabelle (George) Powell and Catherine Nicholls; by Annes family Ron (Betty Anne) Skaritko, Orie (Darlene) Skaritko and many nieces and nephews. Don enjoyed hunting and fishing and family time at Winnipeg Beach. The hours with his family were his happiest as they were his pride and joy. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, December 4 at St. Basils Church, 202 Harcourt St., St. James. A reception will be held after the service at Polo Park Inn, 1405 St. Matthews. At his wishes, all friends, neighbours and co-workers are invited to join the family at this time. In lieu of flowers, it would be appreciated if contributions could be made to the Manitoba Cancer Treatment and Research Foundation, 100 Olivia St., Winnipeg. Don was extremely grateful for the tremendous support of family and friends during these last difficult weeks and especially the nursing staff of Palliative Care, Grace Hospital.
