Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMELBA JEAN (BRAY) BARTLETT It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Melba Jean Bartlett, our mother, grandmother and widow of Ken, at the age of 71 years on December 2, 1999 at the Victoria General Hospital in Winnipeg, with her family by her side. Funeral service will be held at the Knox United Church in Oakville on Wednesday, December 8 at 2:00 p.m. Interment of the cremated remains will follow at Oakville Cemetery. Melba was born on February 6, 1928, daughter of John and Edna Bray at Oakville where she was raised and received her education. She attended Angus School of Commerce in Winnipeg and worked at Hudsons Bay Mining from 1948 until 1955. She returned to Oakville and married Ken Bartlett in January of 1955. They made Oakville their home and raised their two children there. Melba worked for Dr. Harsanyi in Oakville for 25 years as well as dedicating 13 years with the Portage la Prairie School Division as a school trustee and two years as chairperson. She was active on the Portage Credit Union Board and spent countless hours volunteering on community committees. Her involvement with the M.S. Society and the Oakville UCW will be greatly missed. Predeceased by her parents, John and Edna; husband Ken; brother Bob Bray; sister Dorothy Stewart, she leaves many loving memories with her son Jamie and his wife Susan; her daughter Lori and her husband Danny Muir; granddaughter Hayley; grandson Kenny Muir all of Vancouver, British Columbia. Also surviving are her brother Allen (Florence) Bray; her sister Blanche (Tony) Hamelin all of Oakville; sister-in-law Helen Bray of Winnipeg; brother-in-law Tom Stewart in Ottawa and several nieces and nephews.
