MARIE LUCILLE FLORENCE ELZA JOHNSTON (nee MOUSSEAU) Marie Lucille Florence Elza, born at home in St. Vital, Manitoba, December 22, 1931, passed away December 7, 1999 at Kamloops, B.C. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who loved life with all its ups and downs. Her strength, courage, fairness and gentleness made her loved by everyone who knew her and she, along with her husband Howard, raised seven children successfully in a time where successes are rare. She inspired consideration and generosity. Predeceased by her parents, Adrian and Cora Mousseau; brother Henri and sister Dorice. Survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Howard; her children, Linda-Lu (Mike) ODonaghey and daughter Trudy, Judith (Frank) Scopelleti and son Jason, Aileen (Jerry) Ewasiuk and daughters, Danielle and Stephanie, Larry (Vicki) Johnston and daughter Roxane and her mother Trish, Karen (Paul) Kincaid-Smith and daughters, Erin and Emily and son Jordan, Carole (Garold) Gipman and son Garold and daughter Nikki, Ian (Angie) Johnston and son Jesse, daughters Rani and Alyssa; her sisters, Denice Van Ryssel, Alice Kissel and brother-in-law Fred Sebastian and their families. Lucille started school at Holy Cross in Norwood, Manitoba at the age of five. She graduated from Norwood Collegiate where she met her future husband Howard. She worked at the Banque Canadienne Nationale until marrying Howard in July, 1950. Howard and Lucille lived in several communities in Canada before retiring in Kamloops, B.C. Lucille was very active in genealogy research tracing her French and Howards Icelandic/Scottish roots back to the 1500s. She was a very valuable resource for genealogy information for many people who needed help tracing their French roots. She was our light; she was our life. Missed and loved by all who had the privilege to know her. Cremation and private family gathering at Lucilles request. Arrangements by Schoening Funeral Service, 513 Seymour Street, Kamloops, B.C. 1-800-668-3379.
