PALINA DAGBJORT BRECKMAN Courageously on December 7, 1999 at E.M. Crowe Memorial Hospital in Eriksdale with her girls at her side, Palina, age 91 years, formerly of Lundar, MB. Palina was born October 23, 1908 in the Otto District. Mom was an excellent sewer, knitter/crocheter. She made all our clothes when we were small. She loved knitting outfits for the grandchildren as well. You could always count on the newest baby getting a shawl, sweater, etc. Mom was an excellent cook and home maker. In her retirement years she tried her hand at ceramics, painting, and we all have some of her work in our homes. For many years, Mom was behind the scene as a helper for the church, cleaning, preparing communion glasses, changing altar cloths, etc. Mom was a life member of the Eastern Star, Lundar Agricultural Society and spent many years on the executive of both. She was also a member of the Ladies Legion Auxiliary. She also belonged to Ladies Aid Bjork. Mom and Dad loved to travel, but illness prevented very many trips. Moms main goal was making a good home for her family. She enjoyed many cups of coffee with neighbours, friends and family, and always had vinaterta on hand. We will forever remember our gatherings at Moms on each of our birthdays. Christmas Eve was always special at Mom and Dads until we outgrew their house. Whenever family visited, they could be sure a big meal would greet them. Surviving are her daughters, Doreen (Ken), Loreley (Arnold), Elaine (Ray), Candice (Joe) 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; also sisters-in-law, Laura Kristjanson, Kristin Stefanson, Bina Ingimundson, Margaret Mack, Kaye Breckman; friend Pearl Eyford and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Walter Fridrik; her parents, Sigurbjorn and Sigurbjorg Kristjanson; sisters and brothers, Gudny (Jim), Sveinbjorg (Harry), Marino, Valdimar (Valla), Norman (Lija), Oscar; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Sig Breckman, Maria Bailey, Thelma Eyford, Arni Stefanson, Lawerence Ingimundson, Laugi Breckman, Joe (Gertrude) Breckman, Mundi (Clara) Breckman, Doug Mack, George Breckman (Agnes and Myrtle). Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 11 at 2:00 p.m. in the Lundar Lutheran Church with United Church Student Minister Melonie Kauppila officiating. Interment to follow in the Lundar Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Earl and Miles Rutherford, Murray and Darrell Nelson, Merle Day and Martin Harris. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lundar Lutheran Church in memory of Mom. Special thank you to E.M. Crowe Hospital staff, Dr. Ward, Dr. Steyn and nursing staff, the Eriksdale Personal Care Home for the wonderful care and consideration given to Mom through her difficult times.
