ARCHIE BLANK After a long and courageous battle with Parkinsons disease it is with deep sadness and regret that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Elizabeth; son, Sheldon (daughter-in-law Irene) daughter Sherri-Ricki (son-in-law Martin Erlichman), daughter Bonnie and grandchildren Callie and Brandon Blank. He is also survived by sisters, Hilda Henkle (Toronto) and Elizabeth Krell (Vancouver) as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Solomon and Clara Blank; brothers, Oscar and Louis Blank; sisters, Bessie Fitterman, Rose Rosenblatt and Sophie Paul. Archie was born March 14, 1918 in the city of Winnipeg and lived his entire life here. He loved his city of Winnipeg and supported it in many ways. He was a member of the Masons Capital Lodge, Kiwanis Club and BNai Brith. Archie was a very charitable person and supported charities of all kinds. He was a friend to all and had a smile for everyone. His sense of humour and good nature lifted the spirits of everyone who came in contact with him. His exuberance and effervescent personality lit up every room he entered. He was loved by all who had the privilege of knowing him and was the first one to offer a helping hand to those who needed it. Above all he loved his family. His protectiveness, loyalty and concern for his wife and children are legendary and we returned the love he so deserved. The family would like to thank his long time caregivers who always put the emphasis on caring, Don Thompson, Audrey Wilson, Jessie Macalipay, Eric Johnston and Allan Muer. A special thank you to Lorna Edwards for all of her loving kindness over the years. Funeral services were held on December 3, 1999 at Rosh Pina Synagogue with interment at Shaarey Zedek Cemetery. Pallbearers were Phil Altman, Sheldon Altman, Dr. Arthur Blank, Zenith Glesby, Simon Rich, Lanny Silver, Larry Tabachnick and Sidney Wolchock. Honourary pallbearers were Oscar Blank, Al Gorewich, Harry Kaplan and Don Thompson. Our world will be a sadder place for his loss.
