Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHENRY FRANZ Henry Franz died peacefully on December 9, 1999 at Health Sciences Centre, he was 68 years old. He is survived by his wife Anna; his daughter Elisabeth and husband Phil and his son Werner and fiancee Rachel; his sisters, Elisabeth and her husband Gerhard, and Anna and her husband Nick. He was predeceased by his brother John and sister Tina. Heinrich was born in Paulsheim, Ukraine on February 11, 1931. While still a young boy his father was taken away to a concentration camp. He fled the Ukraine in 1943 with his mother and two sisters. Their travels took them through Poland, Germany, Holland, South America, and finally Canada. Along the way he learned to speak Russian, Spanish and English in addition to the German that he learnt growing up. In 1956 he worked in a leprosy colony doing mission work. He moved to Canada in 1957 where he later found his lifes work as a carpenter. He loved to fish, particularly in a boat that he built himself in his spare time. He spent much time fishing with his friends and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 16 at 1:00 p.m. at North Kildonan Mennonite Church, 1131 Roch St. Interment to follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be held on Wednesday, December 15 at 7:00 p.m. at Klassen Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Hwy., and at the church prior to the service. If friends desire, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB, R3C 9Z9. Arrangements entrusted to Klassen Funeral Chapel, 338-0331.
