WILBERT GEORGE PEDDEN Peacefully, following a brief illness and with his family by his side, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Wilbert George Pedden, aged 89 years, on Thursday, December 9, 1999, at Oakview Place. Wilbert will be sadly missed by his beloved wife Elsa; his son Mervyn (Audrey) and their children, Robbie (Kathy) and Bernadette; and son Brian (Donna) and their children, David (Lynda), Doug (Cathy), Tim (Barb), Susan (Mike) Anthonisz, Allison (David) Mazzon; and 11 great-grandchildren. Wilbert is also survived by sisters, Ethel Warner of Kenora Ont., and Emily Curlew of Kelowna B.C. Wilbert was predeceased by his first wife Audrey in 1959; his parents, Jack and Pearl Pedden; brothers, Arthur and Murray; and his sister Florence Smyth, of Ottawa. Wilbert was born in Fort William, Ont. (now Thunder Bay) the eldest child, he moved to Kenora at a very young age. He loved the outdoors, especially his camp on Lake of the Woods. Wilbert also enjoyed crib and fishing, and was an adherent of the United Church. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #141 Tuscan, and #137 Lord Selkirk Lodge. He was employed for several years as a Policeman/Fireman for the Town of Kenora, and later worked for the CPR. He was transferred to Winnipeg shortly after joining the railroad. Wilbert served with the Canadian Army in the Second World War as a Lieutenant in the Artillery Division. Private family service will be held. Flowers gratefully declined. Should family and friends wish, donations may be made in memory of Wilbert to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7; or to a charity of their choice.
