Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGARET RUSHFORTH (COWELL) Margaret Rushforth, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully on December 8, 1999 at the Grace Hospital after a year long battle with cancer. Margaret was born on November 8, 1915, the daughter of Charles and Ellen Cowell. On September 13, 1939 she married Norman Rushforth and shortly thereafter watched with grace and dignity as her beloved marched off to war. Upon his return they made their home in St. James where she was active raising a family and getting involved in the community. She was the first president of the Silver Heights Community Club auxiliary. Margaret was predeceased by her husband Norman in 1998; brother Tom (Margaret) Cowell and sister Ethel (Jim) Will. She is survived by sons, Kenneth (Nicolette) of Alberta and David (Anna) of Winnipeg. Her cherished grandchildren, Robert of Winnipeg and Amanda and Melanie Robert of Alberta will remember her fondly. Margaret will always have a special place in the hearts of her surviving brothers and sisters, Steve (Helen) Cowell of Ottawa, Charles (Joan) Cowell of Winnipeg, Florence (Ted) Jagger of Winnipeg, Lillian (Innis) Bruce of Calgary and Eleanor (Harry) Silvester of Victoria. Many nieces and nephews will remember "Auntie Peggy" fondly. We will all cherish and hold dear her memory. Many thanks to the family and friends who gathered around to comfort Margaret in her final times. A heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Sharon Mould and the staff of the 4 West Palliative Care Unit at the Grace Hospital for making her transition comfortable and peaceful. In keeping with Margarets wishes, no service will be held. A private interment will take place on Monday, December 13 when she will be reunited with her beloved husband. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Cancer Society.
