Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRUSSEL BIGGAR Suddenly, on December 1, 1999, Russel Biggar passed away at the age of 81 years. Russel was predeceased by his parents; his older brother Edward; first wife Mildred and daughter Heather. He is survived by his present wife Ligaya; daughter Lalonnie and son Keith, wife Candice; and grandson Jordan; step-daughter Gigi, husband Mike and grandson Mikey; step-daughter Tuesday, husband Jon and grandson Jed (Phillippines), step-daughter Tita and husband Ray, their children, (New Jersey), step-son Marlon, wife Lolit and their children, (Phillippines), stepson Rommel, wife Juliet and their children (Phillippines), sister Jean; brother Borden and numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends. Russel was born in Winnipeg, May 21, 1918. He was an accomplished carpenter, he began his career at an early age instructing wood turning at St. Johns High School. He was employed by the C.P.R. for 47 years, retiring as a Craneman. He was a Chief Petty Officer at H.M.C.S. Chippewa. During the Second World War stationed in Newfoundland, he served on a Mine Sweeper. He was very proud of his service in the Naval Reserve providing instruction to young Ship Wrights at Bases in Esquimault, B.C., Hamilton, Ont. and Chippewa, Man. He retired from the Navy in 1968. Russel was a member of the Masonic Lodge and also a member of the Board of Directors of Com-Span, an organization assisting disabled adults. Russel was a fun loving man, he enjoyed life and he loved to entertain family and friends with his captivating ability to tell high spirited exciting stories. He was also a man of deep care and compassion. His life revolved around his daughter Heather to whom he was totally devoted. In the last ten years, Russel lived with his beloved wife Li, in Grand Marais, where they enjoyed the great outdoors, fishing hunting, gardening and their pets. Given his adventurous spirit, he was also thrilled to be able to travel and visit family and friends in Toronto, Chicago, Hong Kong and Manila. Funeral service will take place on Saturday, December 4 at 3:00 p.m. in Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Hwy. #1 East at Navin Road. Interment will follow in Green Acres Memorial Gardens. The family wishes to extend their appreciation to the staff of GH3 at the Health Sciences Centre.
