KENNETH JAMES LYON Peacefully after a long and courageous battle with cancer, Ken passed away on Friday, December 3, 1999. He was born in Winnipeg on December 11, 1957. Ken is survived by his parents, Sharan and Ron Lyon; his sister Brenda Lyon, husband Michael Yacentiuk and their children, Jayms, Chloe and Michael of Carman, MB; Aunt Marilyn Lyon; and cousin Ian Brice of Winnipeg; uncle and aunt Alf and Verna McCarthy; cousins, Cindy, Shelly and Danny of Los Angeles; cousins, Bev and Jim Dodds of Winnipeg. He is also survived by good friends associated with his days at Westwood Collegiate, McDonalds, football and bowling games. Ken was predeceased by his grandparents, Evelyn and Jim McCarthy, Lila and Andrew Lyon. Ken was a kind and gentle person. He was an avid and loyal Winnipeg Blue Bomber supporter, holding season tickets continuously since 1981. Even during the 1999 season, he was determined to attend as many home games as possible for "his Bombers". He was also an accomplished five-pin bowler, winning several trophies over the years. He spent many summers at the family cottage near Gimli. He also enjoyed fishing and building model aircraft. The family wishes to thank the many loyal friends and neighbours who showed Ken their kindness, particularly during his illness. A special thank you to the Oncology staff at the Victoria Hospital, staff at the Cancer Foundation, and the Riverview Health Centre for the excellent care given to Ken. Cremation has taken place. No service will be held. Flowers are gratefully declined.
