Gordon will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 44 years, Norma; son Allan (Ingrid) daughter Susan Taylor (Hugh) three grandchildren, Victoria, Hugh Christopher and Gordon James; sister-in-law Doreen Holmberg; nephew Greg Holmberg (Mary) niece Carol Forsythe (David) and numerous friends. Gordon was born in Montreal on October 5, 1924. He was predeceased by his father, Thomas Bailey and his mother Kathleen. He graduated from lower Canada college in Montreal in 1940. Gordon joined the Navy, and attained the rank of First Lieutenant at age 19, serving on a Corvette, The S.S. Fergus as the Gunnery Officer on the North Atlantic during the Second World War. Gordon joined Moore Business Forms in Winnipeg in 1950 as a salesman and retired in 1982 as mid-west regional sales manager. He cherished his many special friendships and memories of travel with the Achievement Club. Besides his family, Gordons passion was golf, as a child, he walked across Montreals Beaconsfield Golf Course everyday, club in hand, on the way to school. During his lifetime, he played many golf courses, but his favourite was his neighbour, Niakwa Golf and Country Club. Niakwa was his second home, and the staff and his golfing buddies were his second family. He will be sadly missed by them all. Gordon was club champion in 1958, served on the Board and was Club President when Niakwa hosted the Canadian Golf Championship in 1961. Gordons other interests included his model airplanes, puttering at his cottage at Victoria Beach, travel with his family and reading. He enjoyed building and renovation projects around his own home and cottage and those of his children. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 15 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Johns Cathedral, 135 Anderson Ave., with the Ven. William Oakley officiating. Interment will follow in St. Johns Cemetery.
