Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPETER FRANZ JANZEN After a battle with cancer, Peter Janzen passed away at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg on Friday, December 10, 1999 at the age of 74. He is survived by his beloved wife Margaret; children, Judy (Ed), Linda (Lawrie), Jean (Jim), Janice (Guy), Jim (Joanne), Darlene and Tim; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and sisters, Tena, Margaret and Annie. Peter was born on May 20, 1925 in Mayfair, Sask., where he lived on the family homestead until 1944 when he volunteered for service with the Regina Rifle Regiment. He served in Continental Europe and the U.K. during the Second World War as a paratrooper and in the Signal Corps. After his return home, Peter married Margaret in November, 1946. In 1947 they moved to Clarkleigh, Man. where they would eventually build a house, farm and raise seven children. Peter began working for the Nelson River Construction Company in 1965, ultimately having a position as a Road Construction Foreman. He retired in 1979 due to health reasons. Following his retirement, Peter enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds, putting puzzles together and working around the yard. In the winter months, he could always be seen shovelling the yard and driveway after a snowfall. Friends and relatives may pay their respects between 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Monday, December 13 at the Arnason Funeral Home in Lundar, Man. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 14 at the Lundar Legion Hall with Student Minister, Melanie Kauppila officiating. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the Hall. Interment to follow in the Clarkleigh Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jeff McSherry, Scott Crick, Jaret Lawrence, Kevin Myngheer, Kurt Ansell and Trevor Burke. Honorary pallbearer will be his grandson Mason Myngheer.
