Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROBERT (BOB) STANLEY AMES 1928 - 1999 Peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital on Sunday, December 12, 1999, after a courageous battle with cancer with his family by his side. He is survived by his wife Josie; his four sons, Robert (Janice), Richard (Joanne), Russell (Nadine), Christopher (Shelley) and two lovely grandchildren, Megan and Indiana. He is also survived by his sister Isobel of Southampton, England and a brother Albert and his family of Winnipeg. Bob was born in Middlesborough, England on October 13, 1928. At the age of 15, he joined the Royal Navy, Fleet Air Arm branch as an Air Artificer apprentice. On leaving the Navy in October, 1958 he and Josie came to Winnipeg where they have resided for 41 years. He was employed by Standard Aero, TransAir, and for 24 years with Transport Canada, Airworthiness Branch, where he met many fine people and made some lasting friendships. Bobs family meant the world to him and they have many happy memories of the times they spent together. Bob loved to spend time in his garden and was Past President of the St. James Horticultural Society. He taught French with Creative Retirement and enjoyed swimming and aquasizing with the North Centennial Seniors. He is a longtime member of St. Andrews Anglican Church. Our sincere thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of St. Boniface Hospital who cared for Bob during his illness. He will be sadly missed and always remembered by his family and friends. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in Bobs name may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of your choice. A memorial service will be held at St. Andrews Anglican Church, 2700 Portage Avenue on Thursday, December 16 at 2:00 p.m., Reverend Ian Mills officiating. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
