Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALFONSINA FILOMENA CORDILEONE With faith and courage our Mother Alfonsina Cordileone peacefully passed away from this life to her Eternal Home on the Feast of St. Lucy, December 13, 1999 at the Riverview Health Center. Mom was born on February 8, 1910 in Italy and came to Canada with her parents in 1921. In 1979 she returned to her place of birth for the first time in 58 years where she reunited with many family members and friends. Alfonsina married Jim Cordileone in 1926. Mom was a woman of great faith and determination. She remained in the family home among her many memories for more than 68 years and just three years ago moved to Villa Cabrini Seniors residence where she made many new friends. Through her many trials of life Mom never gave up. She could often be found, as she put it "playing in flour" making wonderful loaves of bread, a treat for family and friends. Mom loved to tell stories of her homeland. She loved the times spent at the lake with her family and always enjoyed the visits of neighbours and friends, and when she was able, the walks by the lake. Mom dedicated herself to her family, who were always the most important part of her life. She was a peaceful and devoted woman - always ready to lend a helping hand. She has left a legacy of courage, love, friendship and faith, for all who knew her. Alfonsina was predeceased by her husband Jim in 1973 and a daughter Theresa Anderson in 1970. She leaves to cherish her memory, daughter and son-in-law, Josephine & Henry Dellapenta; son and daughter-in-law Bert and Ruth Cordileone; grandchildren, Mark and Cathy Cordileone, Lisa & Bert Snider and Marlene Cordileone; two great grandsons, Andrew and Dayson; her sister Edith Iannone and many nieces, nephews and friends. Prayers will be said on Friday, December 17th, at 7:30 p.m. in the Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Ave. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Fr. Sam Argenziano on Saturday, December 18 at 10:30 a.m. also in the church. Interment will be in the family plot at St. Marys Cemetery, 520 Osborne St. Pallbearers will be Mark Cordileone, Bert Snider, Tony Iannone, Rick Way, Ron Iannone and Rocky Hovorka. In keeping with Moms wishes, if friends so desire, donations may be made in her memory by Mass offerings to Cancer Care, 100 Olivia St. Wpg. MB, R3E 0V9.
