AUDREY D. BURNETT Peacefully on the evening of December 12, 1999, Audrey Burnett passed away at the age of 80 years. Audrey was predeceased by her parents, John and Blanche Burnett, and her sister Hazel Fox. Audrey is survived by her brothers, John of Arborg, MB, Rockley of Carman, MB, Dick (Irene) of Carman, and Gordon (Fish) of Winnipeg. "Auntie Aud" will be sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews. Audrey was born January 4, 1919 in Miami, MB. She lived in the Sharon District where she attended school, completing her education in Miami. She moved to Sperling where she worked in the local post office. Later moving to Winnipeg, she was employed for several years at Manitoba Co-op, moving on to CNR where she worked until her retirement in 1983. Her greatest passion was travelling. From short trips to flying across the ocean, every trip was special to her. The people she met often became lifetime friends. The memories of places she visited were shared through her photographs and stories. Audrey had a great love for nature and the outdoors. Long walks were part of her daily routine. She always took the time to "seize the moment", whether it was to admire a flower garden or say a friendly hello. Many will remember Audrey for her vibrant smile and her beauty - both inside and out. Her legacy will be her enthusiasm for life, her unconditional love of family and friends, her sense of humour, and her compassion and sensitivity toward others. The family would like to express their most sincere appreciation to many of her close friends at the St. Boniface Hospital staff who so kindly assisted and supported Audrey over the last two years. A special thanks to Bev from Home Care Services. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made to the Canadian Diabetes Association of Manitoba, Canadian Cancer Society, or a charity of your choice. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 16, at 2:00 p.m. at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Ave., entrance on Aubrey St. God looked around His garden and found an empty place, He looked down upon this earth and saw your tired face. He knew you were suffering, He knew you were in pain, He knew you would never get well. He put His arms around you and lifted you to rest. Gods garden must be beautiful, He only takes the best.
