Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFREDERICK (FRED) H. BROWN It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Frederick (Fred) H. Brown on December 13, 1999 at the age of 82 at Victoria Hospital. Fred is survived by his loving wife Eleanor; sons, Barry (Diane) and Dennis (Wendy) grandchildren, Carrie, Colleen, Brian and Colin and great-granddaughter Ashley. He is survived also by his brothers, Charles and Raymond and sisters, Cecilia and Marjorie and nieces and nephews. Fred was born in Winnipeg and lived here all of his life. During the war, he served in the R.E.M.E. and following the war was a well-known gunsmith working at T. Eaton, S.I. Robinson and then at the Hudson Bay Co. until retirement in 1982. He worked for many years as a gunsmith from his home, serving the Winnipeg Police, R.C.M.P. and many outdoor enthusiasts. He was active in the Boy Scout movement for many years as a Scout Master, taking his troop on many camping trips and later became District Commissioner and then Area Commissioner. He lived the Boy Scout motto of doing a good turn for someone every day and was always the first to volunteer to help someone who needed assistance. As a hobby, he took pleasure in target shooting and over the years earned many badges including the top one of Master. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 16 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. with Rev. Peter Douglas officiating. Interment will follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens at a later date. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the Chapel Lawn Reception Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Freds memory to the ALS Society of Manitoba, N108 North Pavilion, Deer Lodge Centre, 2109 Portage Ave. R3J 0L3.
