GEORGE MAGNUS PALSON
Date of Passing: Dec 15, 1999
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGE MAGNUS PALSON Peacefully with love all around him, George left us December 15, 1999 after a well fought battle with cancer. George will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by many. Predeceased by his parents Ebby and Villa Palson and sisters Ebba, Helga and Bugga. He leaves to mourn his wife of 39 years Phyllis (Pat) children Patsy (Ovide), Danny (Maureen), Mae (Al) grandchildren Jasmine, Jade, Tricia, Robbie, George, Jemma and Sara; brothers and sisters Thor, Mae, Wilbert, Steinun, Albert and twin brother Oli. Born August 10, 1934 on the homestead "Rejkholum" just North of Riverton. George spent his whole life within miles of his birth place. For all of his years he has been a man of the earth with very strong work ethics. George was involved with some major construction projects including the Red River Floodway the "Causeway" linking Hecla to the mainland and the development of Hecla Island Provincial Park. He settled to work at Hecla Island for the Department of Natural Resources until his retirement in 1994. He has been a proud farmer all of his life and nothing would please him more than the birth of a healthy new calf. He was known to have a healthy herd which always pleased him. He will be sadly missed for his uncanny ability to bring a smile to peoples faces. His sense of humour would make the most uptight people giggle. Along with his hard work and the loving care of Pat they were able to overcome many difficulties. They fought this battle with the same qualities right to the end. As a matter of fact, on December 31, 1996 when he was diagnosed with cancer, the doctor told him he had not one but two types of cancer. He replied with "Ive always been a greedy bugger". The Palson Family would like to sincerely thank the staff at the Arborg Hospital for their tireless care and consideration. Neil and Edith for their guidance and all of the family and friends that have supported us throughout this battle. George has made his peace with the Lord, to forgive him, and he also accepted him as his Saviour. We are all very thankful for that. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 18, at 1:00 p.m. at the Riverton Fellowship Circle Church. Arborg (MacKenzie) Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
