Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTHEODORE K. MACZUGA Theodore K. Maczuga (Ted) passed away on December 14, 1999 at the age of 77 after a short stay in the St. Boniface Hospital. Dad is survived by his beloved wife Anna (nee Beaudry) five sons, Ken and Emily of Red Deer, AB, Gerald and Betty of Grunthal, Denis and Donna and Allan and Flo all of Winnipeg, Phil and Linda of Kamloops, B.C.; three daughters, Agnes and Garth Bartel and Doreen and Bill Howe all of Winnipeg, and Theresa and Terry Zarecki of Grunthal; 17 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Also, three sisters and many, many nephews, nieces and friends. Dad was predeceased by his daughter Audrey in 1982; one son-in-law Vic Bartel in 1997; one grandson Darcy Bartel in 1999; two brothers and three sisters. Dad was born in Poland on March 5, 1922. He moved to Canada with his parents in 1929. They settled in Vassar, MB where he attended school up to Grade 8. He gave up his education to farm with his dad. On June 30, 1942, Dad married Mom in Vassar and together they raised nine children. Dad stayed on the farm until 1965. While farming he also worked hard at cutting wood, Christmas trees and various other jobs. He sold the farm and moved to Grunthal where he took over Grunthal Cartage and Oakridge Apartments to give us a chance for a better education. He sold the transfer to Gerald in 1972. He took a couple of jobs before he started driving school bus in 1975. He drove for 12 years and will be fondly remembered by the students. At the age of 65, he quit driving to give the job to the younger generation. Dad enjoyed numerous sports - hockey, curling, fishing, camping, hunting and especially baseball. After retiring, Dad took up gardening. His garden and flower beds were admired by many. Besides having a green thumb, Dad loved to cook and bake. We tested many new recipes. Dad, we will always cherish the polkas you loved playing on the violin while we were growing up and the countless lively cassettes we were greeted with every time we came home. Dad, we love you most for the way you always put everyone first, especially Mom, up to the last hour. Always cheerful and smiling. Never thinking of yourself. So willing to help others even in your pain. Dads faith in God carried him through many trials, especially the pain he endured the last days of his life. Thanks Dad, you will remain forever in our hearts, till we meet again. Viewing will be held on Friday, December 17 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with prayers at 8:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach.
