BERNARD STEFFAN It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Bernard Stanley Steffan, aged 65, on Tuesday, December 14, 1999, after a lengthy illness in the Health Sciences Centre, with his wife and best friend, Ruby (Trask), by his side. Bernie was predeceased by his parents; two sisters and a brother. He is survived by sisters, Mary (George) of Manitouwadge, Ontario, Ester (Marcelle) of Coniston, Ontario, Agnes of Georgetown, Ontario, Ambrose of Trail, B.C., sister Cecilia (Emile) of Kelowna, B.C., Jim (Fran) of Victoria, B.C., and Basil of Barrys Bay, Ontario. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Olive Trask; sisters-in-law, Kathy Trask, Shirley (Trask) and Dale, Frank, Mary (Trask) and David Sitar; brothers-in-law, Wayne, Bev and Roy Trask. Bernie spent four years in the Canadian Forces and was a member of the Canadian Legion. He also worked for many years for American Motors (now Daimler Chrysler) in Brampton, Ontario before moving to Lac du Bonnet in 1990 due to health problems. Bernie was always known for his quick retort to comments and problems, and he will be missed by all. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, December 21 at the Lutheran Church of the Cross, Lac du Bonnet, Manitoba at 3:00 p.m. The service will terminate at the Church. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory, may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Manitoba Branch, 200-55 Donald St., Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 1L8.
