FREDA OLIEN (nee RATHGEBER) 1920 - 1999 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our mother on December 15, 1999 at age 79. Freda is survived and will be lovingly remembered by her children, sons, Ken, Bob (Sonja), Jim (Arlene) daughters, Karen Shanski (Bill), Judy Bell (Ralph) grandchildren, Grant (Gabi), Christy, Rick (Lori), Lori, Karla Andrews (Phil), Kurt, Matthew and Andrew; great grandchildren, Leia, Andrea, Bradley and Ryan. Freda is also survived by her sister Alice Lenhardt. She was predeceased by her son Ricky; also by her sisters, Lil and Helma and brothers, Rudy and George. Mum was employed by Sears for 23 years retiring in 1982. She always spoke fondly of her friends at Sears. Mum was a great sports granny. She loved channel surfing between baseball, curling, football and golf. She received great enjoyment buying her Sports Select Tickets. In prior years she used to enjoy playing bingo and doing her jigsaw puzzles. More recently she loved to do her daily crossword puzzles and Crptoquotes. She also loved bowling with her friends at Polo Park Lanes. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Avenue, R3A 1P6 or the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301-352 Donald Street, R3B 2H8. Funeral service will be held on Monday, December 20 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street with Pastor Richard Kruesel officiating. Viewing will be prior to the service. Service will terminate at the Chapel with cremation to follow. Private family interment will follow at a later date.
