MARY MACKENZIE NELSON (nee MACLEOD) It is with deep sorrow we announce the sudden passing of our dear mother and friend, Mary Nelson, on December 15, 1999 at Grace Hospital. She is survived by her two daughters, Heather Maureen Clare and Gia Tara Couture, Gias husband Raymond, whom she loved very much and her beloved granddaughter Christina, truly the light of her life. She is also survived by her brother Malcolm Donald MacLeod (Bernice) her niece Siobhan Tremblay (Kenneth) her nephew Rory MacLeod (Katherine Currie) and their children, Liam and Sean. Sorely missing her will be her cousin and friend, Ann Mounce. Mary was born on March 27, 1923. She attended John M. King and Daniel McIntyre Schools. Her working life as a stenographer/secretary was with Hydro, Air Canada and finally the Department of National Defense from which she retired in 1987. Marys parents were born on the Isle of Lewis, Scotland and she was proud of her Scots Gaelic heritage. As a young girl she won first prize in a local Gaelic singing competition. This love of music continued throughout her life and she was a patron of musical, dance and theatre events. She was a member of the MacLeod Clan Society of Manitoa, The Womens Canadian Club of Winnipeg and the Presbyterian Church of Canada. She was a lovely elegant woman and a perfectionist in everything she did. She was a very devoted and supportive mother. She loved her home and her spacious yard. Her hospitality and kindness will be remembered by all who knew her. A service to celebrate Marys life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 20 at Neil Bardal Funeral Home, 984 Portage Avenue at Aubrey with Rev. Beth McCutcheon officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a favorite charity. We love you Mother. Rest in peace until we meet again. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200 www.nbardal.mb.ca
