LEO L. JOSEPH TOUROND It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, with his loved ones around him through his long battle against cancer, on December 18, 1999. Leo was born June 17, 1917 in Sandlands, Manitoba. He married Adrienne December 31, 1942, wife of 56 years. He leaves to mourn, his loving wife Adrienne; children, Lorraine (Norbert), Noel (Rose), George (Delores), Raymond, Eleanor (George), Irene, Eugene (Marilyn), May (Ken), Edith (Ralph), Joyce (Garry), Phil (Claudette), Bruce (Doreen) and Stella. Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren; three brothers, John, David and James; two sisters Aurise and Georgette and numerous nephews, nieces and relatives. Leo was predeceased by his daughter Rita in 1950 at one year old, his father Alfred in 1955, his mother Octavie in 1960, his two brothers Patrick and Noel and four sisters, Victoria, Anna, Cicele and Elcie. Leo served in the Army from 1942 to 1945. He operated his own logging and trucking business for about 30 years. He loved to watch wrestling on T.V., pitch horseshoes, play cards and darts. Family and friends were always happy to hear Leo play his Harmonica at family home gatherings. Remembering him as a gentle person Both strong and good Always doing his best For family and others Our memories of your life Are treasured in our hearts Prayers will be said on Tuesday, December 21 at 7:00 p.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, Mb. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 22 at 2:00 p.m., at the St. Alexandre Roman Catholic Church, Woodridge, MB. Interment to follow at Sandlands Cemetery, Sandlands, Mb. Pallbearers for the service will be George Barton, Rick Cross, Ralph Gowan, Abe Neufeld, Abe Sawatsky and Lawrence Turick. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations in Leos memory may be made to the Manitoba Cancer Treatment and Research Foundation, 409 Tache Avenue, Winnipeg, Mb., R2H 2A6. Adrienne and Leos family would like to thank the wonderful doctors and nursing staff at St. Boniface Hospital Hospice and the home support nurses from Sprague, Mb.
