AUDREY MAY McDOUGALL (ISAACS) Peacefully, on Sunday, December 19, 1999, surrounded by her family at the Portage District General Hospital, Audrey May McDougall, of Portage la Prairie, widow of the late Sidney McDougall, passed away at the age of 72 years after a short courageous battle with cancer. Friends are invited to prayers, Wednesday, December 22, at 7:00 p.m., at the chapel of the Omega Funeral Home. Audrey will be forever missed and lovingly remembered by her children, Georgina; Terry (Brenda) Ken (Justina) Bryan and friend Vince; grandchildren, Chancie, Jessica, Stephanie and Victoria; brothers, Jim (Dorthy) and Tom (Gloria) special niece Gerry; buddies, Mary and Carol; sister-in-law Evelyn; many nieces and nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Sidney; parents, John and Vera Isaacs; brothers, Gordon and Reg and sister-in-law Emily. Audrey was born in Waskada, MB., November 9, 1927. She moved to Portage in 1934 where her family farmed for many years. She received her education at Prospect School and Portage Collegiate. She graduated as a licenced practical nurse from St. Josephs College in 1948. After graduating, she worked in Winnipeg for a short period, then took a position in Minnedosa where she met her husband Sidney and was married in 1952. Audrey and her family came to Portage in 1957 where she started working at the Portage District General Hospital on the maternity ward until her retirement in 1988. She was a tremendous help in assisting hundreds of mothers through their labour and delivery. In her earlier years she enjoyed playing sports, especially baseball. Audrey also like to bowl, curl, and play darts. She served several terms as president, vice-president of ANAF Ladies Provincial Command for Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario. She was a lifetime member of the ANAF Ladies Auxiliary Unit 13 serving in numerous positions. She volunteered countless hours serving banquets, luncheons and organizing special events. She was a faithful and dedicated member. Audrey assisted with raising funds and volunteer driving with the Cancer Society. She was involved with many community activities. She was always willing to lend a hand. Audreys personality reflected sharing of herself and caring about others. This was shown throughout her life to her family, friends and community. In keeping with our Mothers wishes, a family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Central Plains Cancer Care Services, 318 Saskatchewan Ave., E., Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 0K8. The Omega Funeral Home in care of the arrangements.
