Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDELLA IRENE JASKOW (MAY) On December 24, 1999, after a lengthy illness, in the Riverview Health Care Centre, Della was called home for Christmas to be with her Lord and Saviour. She leaves to cherish her memory her son Jesse (age 11) her daughter Jayme (age 8) her parents, Gloria and Stephen May; her sister Cathy; her brother Stephen Mark; two nieces, Deirdre and Alycia Jorundson; a special friend John Dalton and his daughters, Katie, Jo-Anne and Courtney; aunt Joanne and uncle Bill Bater; aunt Major Diane May; uncle Bob and aunt Annette Richert; aunt Joan Richert; several cousins and friends. She was predeceased by both sets of grandparents, Gladys and Tony Richert and Harold and Edith May; two uncles, Howard Richert and Carl Richert. Della was born on November 12, 1963 in Winnipeg Grace Hospital. She lived most of her life in Transcona, moving there when she was just eight years of age. She attended West St. Paul School for grades 1 - 3 and then upon moving to Transcona received the remainder of her education in Transcona. While still in high school, Della worked part time in the Admitting Department at the Health Sciences Centre. This turned into a full time position and after taking a Medical Secretary course, she continued to work there for the next 17 years, retiring because of ill health. Della lived her life for her children. She tried to instill in them Christian love and morals. They will have wonderful memories of her, from bike riding, tobogganing, a trip to B.C. by plane and to Saskatoon by train. She was always doing "fun" things with them. On December 6, 1998, Della was baptized in the Abundant Life Baptist Church and since that time has been an inspiration to many people with the love of Christ showing through her. Throughout her illness, she always had a smile on her face and when asked how she could do that, her simple reply was "prayer". A very special thank you to Dr. L. Brandes and staff at the Cancer Foundation and Dr. H. Marr and staff on E3 at the Riverview Health Care Centre. Also a very special thank you to Bert Thomson for her friendship. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Cancer Treatment and Research Foundation, 100 Olivia St., Winnipeg, Man., in Dellas memory. Funeral service will be conducted by Capt. Dan Roode on Wednesday, December 29 at 11:00 a.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St. Cremation and private burial to follow. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
