She will be greatly missed by 13 grandchildren and their spouses; 29 great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren. Two foster boys also remember their great-grandma Pokrant. Also mourning her passing is her only remaining brother Edward of Winnipeg and four sisters-in-law. She was predeceased by her parents, August and Emma Recksiedler; two sisters, Lydia and Laura; four brothers, William, Gustav, Leo and Ernest, as well as five siblings in infancy. Helena was born in Sewell, Manitoba in 1904. She and Fred were married in 1924 and farmed in the New Kennedy area, north of Rosenfeld until 1949. They then moved to Winnipeg. Life was not always easy for our parents and we remember well the sacrifices they made for us. Two things they always clung to through the good times and bad, was family and their faith. Their example has left a lasting impression on us as we live out our own lives as parents and grandparents. In 1992 Mom moved into full-time residence at Middlechurch Home. Here she was contented and received loving care from all the staff during the last seven years. Viewing will be held on Thursday, December 30 from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Ave. (Aubrey St. entrance) followed by a private family interment at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 211 Kimberly Ave. with Pastor Bruce Gelhorn officiating. Should friends so desire, memorial donations can be made to Grace Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or to the Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg, 280 Balderstone Road, West St. Paul, Man., R4A 4A6 Thank you for your guiding prayers, and for your friendship so very dear. Well always cherish your love and care. Thank you Mom for being there. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
