Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLOUIS LUDWIG LUKOWICH Suddenly after a lengthy battle with heart disease, surrounded by his family and after their Christmas Celebration, on December 25, 1999, Louis (Ludwig) Lukowich, passed away. Funeral service will be held in the chapel of the Omega Funeral Home, 83 Royal Road S., Portage la Prairie on Thursday, December 30 at 1:30 p.m. with the Reverend Tom Kruesel officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery. Predeceased by his parents, Anne and Roy Laschuk in 1995, Lou is survived by his beloved wife Lillie of 45 years; his daughter Landis (Charles) and grandchildren, Landon and Riley; brother Ed (Betty) of Ottawa; sister Jean (Reg) of Brampton, Ontario; nieces and nephews, Terry, Andrew, Gillian and Ross, as well as many friends and family members. He will be sadly missed by close friends, Ed and Kaye Kahler of Winnipeg, who were extremely helpful during those frequent trips to Winnipeg during his illness. Lou was born on August 14, 1929 in Mayfair, Saskatchewan. He moved to Winnipeg at the age of five where he received his education and spent most of his life living in Transcona except for the years he spent as a young man working in the logging camps in British Columbia. He was employed with the Breweries for 40 years. He moved to Portage after his retirement to be closer to his two grandchildren. Lou was a hard worker and an avid reader. He loved the outdoors and was very active with his family and friends until stricken with heart disease. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba in care of Catherine Newham, 103 Wilkinson Crescent, Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, R1N 1A7 and Society of Manitobans with Disabilities, 825 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3A 1M5, who provided him with a wheelchair which was gratefully appreciated. The Omega Funeral Home in care of the arrangements.
