Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN EDWARD (JACK) McDONALD "Jocko" passed away quietly November 19, 2000 at the Health Sciences Centre after a brief illness. Except for service during the Second World War, when he served overseas with the Canadian Air Force, Jack spent most of his life in Winnipeg. He will be lovingly remembered by surviving siblings, Joe, Sadie (Frank Gallagher), Margaret (Tim Mulligan), Millie (Julie Webster) and Frank, as well as many nieces and nephews and extended family. Jack spent much of his working life as a commissionaire, providing security at St. Boniface Hospital and at the Health Sciences Centre. As a cancer survivor himself, Jacks most treasured moments were with the kids at the Cancer Centre and he loved being Santa at their annual Christmas parties. He was a constant source of smiles, with a quick joke always ready. He spent many hours on short wave radio with friends around the world. His life will be celebrated at a memorial Mass at Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Ave. on Thursday, November 23 at 11:00 a.m., Monsignor Louis McCloskey will officiate.
