DAN BABE SOMERS Suddenly, on December 16, 1999, at the Middlechurch Home, Dan Babe Somers passed away at the age of 91 years. Dan was born in Winnipeg November 8, 1908. He met and married CarolNovak. Dan will be sadly missed by his son Danny and wife Betty; grandchildren, Tanya and Dean; sister Kay. He was predeceased by his parents; twobrothers, John and Steven and two sisters, ªMinnie and Mary. During his early years, Dan worked in the Gold Mines in southernOntario. During the depression he found employment in Chicago and spenttime there before returning to Winnipeg. He was a Trainman with theC.P.R., retiring in 1973. Dan enjoyed playing semi-pro baseball where heearned the nickname Babe for his hitting ability. The family wish to sincerely thank the caregivers at the MiddlechurchHome for all their care, kindness and support shown to Dan and hisfamily. Private family funeral will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dans memory may be made to theCanadian Diabetes Association, Manitoba Division, 102 - 310 Broadway Ave., Winnipeg, Man., R3C 0S6.
