VIOLA (EBY) ELIAS On Monday, December 27, 1999, at Concordia Hospital, Winnipeg, Viola Elias, aged 84 years, beloved wife of the late Dr. John C. Elias. Viola was born February 13, 1915, in Carman, MB, to Levi and Ada (Anderson) Eby. Following elementary school in Carman, Viola trained as a registered nurse at Childrens Hospital, Winnipeg, graduating in 1938. She married Dr. John C. Elias, also from Carman, July 27, 1940. They lived in various places while John was the in the R.C.A.F., followed by stays in Elm Creek, Morris and Portage la Prairie, MB, during the years of Johns medical practice, before moving to New Denver, BC, and then to Brandon. Vi worked in Johns office in Morris and always watched over and loved her family wherever she was. Vi and John raised three children, John (and Joyce) of St. Norbert; Douglas of Calgary; and Barbara (and Bob) of Beausejour. There are five grandchildren, Joan (and Rob), Alison, Stephen (and Rosie), Adam, and Heather. Also surviving are brother Fred (and Bertha) Eby; sisters-in-law, Annie Cutting, Lynne McNabb, and Mary Frank; and brother-in-law Peter Elias. Viola was predeceased by John in 1983; also by sisters, Bertha Forbes, Dorothy Lyons, Olive Sim, Stella and Hazel Eby, and brothers, Lloyd, Stanley and Norris Eby. Vi enjoyed many things - travels, reading, crafts, companions from Edgewood Estates and other longtime friends, and, for 45 years, her Nutimik Lake cabin. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place Friday, December 31, 2:00 p.m. at Doyles Funeral Home, Carman. Flowers gratefully declined.
