EDITH DODGE Edith passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 26, 1999, age 101 years, at the Boyne Lodge in Carman. She was predeceased by her husband Tom in 1965 and one daughter Olga Wenezenki of Port Alberni, BC in 1996. She leaves to cherish her memory Clayton Dodge (Gertie) of Darlingford, Velma Orchard (Lloyd) of Miami, Ralph Dodge (Edna) of Lundar, Shirley Dodge of Belleville, ON, Elona Fitzherbert (John) of High River, AB and son-in-law Jules Wenezenki, of Port Alberni, BC; and one sister Gertie Smith of Winnipeg. Edith was born August 22, 1898 in Hungerford County, ON and moved west to Manitoba with her family where she met and married Tom Dodge. They farmed and raised a family in the Opawaka District. She was actively involved in the U.C.W. group and Womens Auxiliary. She loved working on her vegetable and flower garden as well as creating many beautiful quilts and embroidery and crochet pieces. On her 100th birthday a great celebration was held in her honour at the Boyne Lodge and later at Lloyd and Velmas farm in Miami. Edith laughed and enjoyed time with her family and met and visited with numerous great and great-great-grandchildren and relatives. Until recently, Edith participated in activities and loved the music and church services at the Boyne Lodge. Funeral service will be held at the Miami United Church in Miami, MB on Thursday, December 30 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Bob Gilbert officiating. Many thanks to the Boyne Lodge staff for the wonderful care and love given to Mom during her stay. Doyles of Carman in care of arrangements.
