Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALDA HAND (nee DAVIDSON) Mom passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 1999 at home, after a short battle with cancer at 78 years of age. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter Leslie; son Harald; also daughter-in-law Karen and son-in-law Wayne; four grandchildren, David (Amy), Robert (Marnie), Tara and Lyndsey; four great-grandchildren, Caitlin, Zack, Riley and Serge. Her closest and dearest friend Stella Cook and many many other friends she made over the years, especially Del, Allie and June. Mom was predeceased by her parents, Ragnhe and Harald Davidson; brothers, Charlie and Harold Davidson; her husband John and eldest son Winston Hand. Mom was born and raised in Winnipeg around the Icelandic community in the citys West End and Gimli. During the war she left Winnipeg for Toronto to work as a riveter on war planes going overseas, returning to raise her family when the war was over. The family moved to San Bernadino, California in the middle 1950s to pursue job opportunities only to return four years later to be with their families. She then dedicated her life to raising her three children and in later years her granddaughter Tara and great-grandson Serge. Cremation has taken place and there will be no service. Instead, the family would like her friends to join them in a celebration of her life on Tuesday, January 4 between 2:00 and 8:00 p.m. at her home.
