KATHLEEN MARGARET (KAY) TAYLOR (nee TOOTSIE BOWNASS) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister, whose journey through life began on June 29, 1931 and ended on December 31, 1999. Predeceased by her son Bruce Alan and by her parents Jack and Jean Bownass, as well as by her brother Bob Bownass, Kay is survived by husband Bill; daughter Donna (Laurence) Hauser; son Brian (Tracey) Taylor; and by daughter Joanne (Brian) Hunter. Surviving also are 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her brother Jack (Margie) Bownass; sister-in-law Patricia Winser, and several nieces and nephews. Toots was born and raised in East Elmwood and attended George V and Lord Selkirk Schools. She worked for six years in the budget office at Eatons before settling down to marriage and raising a family. Kay was active in competitive sports for many years, particularly in curling where her proudest moment was having her name engraved on the Lady Eaton Trophy in 1978. She was also an active golfer, having won the Club Championship of the Harbor View Ladies in September. In recent years she has been active in lawn bowling, being on winning teams in both association and club events. A memorial service to celebrate Kays life will be held in the chapel of Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St., on Wednesday, January 5, at 2:00 p.m. Interment Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the Glen Eden Reception Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations to Cancer Care Manitoba in Kays memory would be appreciated.
