ANNETTE GREENBERG It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother and Bobba on Thursday, December 23, 1999. Her daughter and son-in-law, Sandi and Tim Michaw; her grandson Rob Michaw, his fiancee Tannis Podheiser; and Annettes sister Ruby Shaw of Los Angeles, California, will sadly miss her. Annette was predeceased by her loving husband Ben (1973) her parents, Sadie and George Greenberg; brothers, Sonny and Abe; and sisters, Lottie and Irene. Annette was born in Lemberg, Sask. in 1921. Her family moved back to Winnipeg when she was an infant and she grew up on College and Machray Avenues and attended Machray School and St. Johns Tech. Ben was her childhood sweetheart and she waited for him to return from Europe, where he served four years during the Second World War. They wed in 1947 and moved to Whiting, Indiana. Annette was very active in the community and Sandis school and helped Ben build and manage three vacuum cleaner stores in the Chicagoland area. After Bens death, she returned to Winnipeg in 1974 with Sandi, Tim and Rob. For the past 26 years the entire focus of her life has been her children and especially her grandson Rob. She was a modern Bobba, who played baseball with her grandson and talked sports with Rob and shared in every aspect of his life. We are most thankful that she lived to share in his joy when he and Tannis became engaged and to be present at their engagement party. Our lives were completely intertwined with hers and her passing has left a huge void. Her devotion, support and love for us will forever be in our hearts. We love her and will miss her terribly. Our thanks go out to many who have been there to support our mom with kindness and caring... Dr. Grant Benningen, Dr. John Rabson, Nancy Landry from Homecare, her caregivers, Francesca, Del, Maria, Linda and the many other homecare personnel who were there for her. A special thank you goes to the emergency staff, particularly Dr. Laurel Snyder, at Seven Oaks Hospital, and Dr. Joshua Koulack and Dr. Eric Jacobsohn and nursing staff and the other doctors in the surgical I.C.U. at the Health Sciences Centre for their special attention and care. A graveside service was held at the Shaarey Zedek Cemetery on December 26, 1999. The pallbearers were Oscar Mandel, Hart Greenberg, Robert Carr, Phil Gerson, Gerald Rosner and Elliot Offman. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation.
