Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALDA BJARNASON CARTER It is with great sorrow that we announce the death of our beloved wife, sister and aunt on Sunday, January 2, 2000 at the Johnson Memorial Hospital, Gimli, Man. Alda will be sadly missed by her loving husband Don Carter; sisters, Inga Isfeld, Sandy Hook; Norma Thorarinson, Riverton; Anna (Jim) OBrien, Toronto and brother Herbert of Gimli; her nieces and nephews, Burma (Doug) Hambly, David Thorarinson Kathy (Baillie) Davies, Roy (Heidi) Thorarinson, Pat (Ralston) Ayling, Mike (Debbie) OBrien, Tim (Nancy) OBrien, Alda (Don) Kotz, Dona (Dave) Pratt, Ron (Leatrice) Work, Herbert (Irma) Bjarnason, Jona (Reg) Nedo, Richard (Sheila) Bjarnason, Dianne (Jack) Gowanlock, Johnny Bjarnason, Clarence Bjarnason, Sonny, Kimberly, James and Donald Bjarnason and their families. She was predeceased by her parents, Olafur and Feldis Bjarnason; her sister, Goodie Davidson and Vickie Work and brothers, Bill, Joe, John and Donnie and nephews, Wayne Davidson and Jack Work. Alda was a kind and caring person. She took care of her parents until they died. She was dedicated and hardworking throughout her years of work, first at Terguson Drug Store and later at Gull Harbour Resort and the Betel Home in Gimli. She enjoyed her morning "coffees" with Herbert, her friends at the Icelandic National League, her walking and card game "buddies" and countless others whose life she touched. Of course, Don was the love of her life and "Louie" her faithful companion and "guard cat". We, the rest of her family are so grateful for the years of happiness they shared together and Dons devotion to her, caring for her at home until just five days before she died. She lived her life with dignity and grace and she fought her brave battle against cancer in the same way. Cremation has taken place. No formal service will be held at this time. A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Icelandic National League, 62 2nd Avenue, Gimli. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, in care of arrangements.
