EDWIN (JOHN) DEMANSKI 1932 - 2000 Peacefully, on January 1, 2000 at the St. Boniface Hospital, with his wife by his side, Edwin (John) Demanski passed away at age 67 years. Left to cherish his memory are wife Vickie; children, Elaine Demanski and Denise (Elmer) Guest; grandchildren, Justine and Rachelle Dilay, Jamie and Janine Guest; brother Walter (Sheila), Carl (Dolly) sisters, Nellie, Jessie (Ed), Bernice and Lorraine; sister-in-law Sheila Demanski and many nieces and nephews. Edwin (John) was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Minnie Demanski; brother Stanley and infant son Bruce John Demanski. Dad was born in Virden, Manitoba and lived in the surrounding area until he came to Winnipeg in 1955 and worked at Canada Packers for 32 and one half years until its close in 1988. He then got his G.E.D. certificate and worked part time as a custodial for Transcona Springfield School Division until 1993. He was a volunteer for St. John Ambulance for a few years in the early 1990s. Edwin (John) had a green thumb and always kept a beautiful yard of shrubs and flowers. He loved to travel and went on many trips with his family over the years. He was the best husband, father and grandfather anybody could have had. Special thanks to the caring staff of the Palliative Care Ward, 3rd Floor, St. Boniface Hospital. Funeral service will be conducted by Father Lucien Roy on Thursday, January 6 at 11:00 a.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day Street with viewing one half hour prior to service. Burial at Transcona Cemetery. Should friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Cancer Treatment and Research Foundation, 100 Olivia Street, Winnipeg. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
