Elsie was born on May 28, 1906 in Port Arthur, Ontario. In 1930 she married Charles Frederick Spittle in Thunder Bay and relocated to Winnipeg. She immediately started her volunteer work, which continued throughout her lifetime. Mom was an active member of Westworth United Church and she had many interests in life. She was an expert knitter and seamstress and made many beautiful outfits for her family; she enjoyed gardening (especially her roses which she took great pride in), bowling, playing bridge with her neighbours and close friends, travelling when the opportunity arose, and her wonderful Sunday dinners. Home and family were most important to her and her most precious moments were times that she spent with her family ad seeing her great-grandchildren who meant so very much to her. The family wishes to express special thanks to the staff of the fourth floor and the Medical Rehabilitation Unit at the Victoria General Hospital for their care and compassion. A memorial service will be held on January 5 at 3:00 p.m at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Interment will follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, with a reception following in the Chapel Lawn Reception Centre.
