LEON PEWARCHUK Peacefully, on Friday, December 31, 1999 with his family by his side at Red River Place, Selkirk, Man. He is survived by his loving wife Doris; his son Leon (Louise) and stepchildren, Ken (Gwen), Garry and Gail; and grandchildren, Colin (Maria), Kristen (Gerhard) and Ian as well as many nieces and nephews. Leon came from a family of 13 and was predeceased by five brothers and three sisters. He is survived by sisters Nettie, Stella (Ed), May (Bill), Sonya (Albert) and brother-in-law Steve Gudz. He was born in 1913 in Narol, Man., where he farmed for many years. He then worked for Poly Bag and C.I.L. in Winnipeg, moving to Calgary with C.I.L. in 1974. Following the passing of his first wife, Leone in 1977, Leon retired and in 1978 he returned back to Winnipeg. Following his second marriage in 1980 he moved to Selkirk where he and Doris had many happy years together. Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, January 5, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church (455 Douglas Ave., Winnipeg) with Rt. Rev. Canon Walter Klimchuk officiating. Interment will follow in the All Saints Cemetery, Rivercrest, Manitoba. His pallbearers will be Bill, Pat and Colin Pewarchuk and Ken, Garry and Gail Kotowich. The family would like to thank the staff at the Red River Place for the wonderful care he received. Flowers are gratefully declined.
