MARIA CLINCKE (nee BILLIET) Passed away peacefully at Tache Centre on January 1, 2000 at the age of 100. Maria was born in Ruiselede, Belgium on December 23, 1899. She and her husband Maurice came to Winnipeg in 1926. She was predeceased by her husband in 1957; a son-in-law Albert Verhalle in 1978 and a daughter Mariette Verhalle in 1984. She resided in St. Boniface from 1926 until the time of her death and was a long time member of the Belgian Sacred Heart Church. Maria is survived by her son Lucian (Alison) her daughter Margaret (Leslie) Karakas; six grandchildren, Mark (Kathleen) Clincke, Matthew (Catherine) Clincke, Michael Karakas, Marilyn (Joseph) Taferner, Daniel (Debbie) Verhalle and Eileen (Marc) Lussier and eight great-grandchildren, Karen and Steven Clincke, Mark Verhalle, Andrea and Steven Taferner, Glen Karakas and Sara and Aaron Lussier. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her. The family extends sincerest appreciation to the staff at Tache Nursing Centre who provided such compassion and attentive care to her during her stay there. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 5, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Church, 300 Donalda Street with interment in the Belgian Sacred Heart Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined.
