Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWALTER TURNBULL REID Peacefully, at Deer Lodge Centre on December 30, 1999, Walter Turnbull Reid passed away at the age of 77. Walter is survived by his wife Bernice (Skelton-Wilson) his daughter Janice (Errol) Smith; his son John (fiance Dalyce) and his sister Muriel Brotheridge; step-children, Len (Gail) Wilson, Terry Wilson, Caroline (John) Poloni, Kasandra Van Keith, and their families; sister-in-saw Bernice and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife Millie (Hryhorak) in 1977; his brothers Frederick and Robert; his sister Janet; brother-in-law Hugh Brotheridge; and his parents, Elizabeth Turnbull Reid and John Thomas Reid. Walter was born in Winnipeg, March 4, 1922 and grew up in West Kildonan. He joined the RCAF, serving as aircraft maintenance in England in the Second World War, receiving C.V.S.M Defense Medal. Upon his return, he married Millie Hrehorak and also began a 42-year career with Canadian Pacific Railways, retiring in 1983. Walters great enjoyment of life came from his family, children, home handyman activities, friendships that continued from school days, and "Barbershop" singing, which extended over many years of song and friendship with his fellow "Barbershop" singers. In 1982 Walter married Bernice and 17 years of marriage followed, enjoying his family, extended family, and the beloved family cottage at Victoria Beach with the gardening, squirrels and chipmunks which always kept him smiling. Traveling, particularly trips to Hawaii, were special times for Walter. Walter will always be remembered as a true gentleman, family man and friend. A service of memory will be held Wednesday, January 5, 2000 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. If friends so wish, donations may be made to Walters name to the Alzheimers Society of Winnipeg, 120 Donald Street, R3C 4G2 or a charity of choice.
