BELL It is with deep sorrow the family announces the passing of our wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Winniefred Bell on Sunday, January 2, 2000 at the Selkirk General Hospital with her son by her side. Winnie was born in Manigatogan, Man. on January 31, 1928. She resided there until 1942 when she left to attend school at Riverton and Hecla Island. She married Hannes Bell on May 23, 1946 and together they raised eight children of their own and opened their door to many others during the years including Baby Albert (who was like their own). They resided 14 years in Bissett moving to Selkirk in 1966. Winnie was very active in the Mennonite Church for many years. Mom worked many jobs including the Selkirk Mental Health Centre for 23 years before retiring in 1994. Mom had many interests but loved the sales field most. She earned many honours and top prizes for her efforts but her greatest achievement was the thrill of the sale. Moms love for travel took her to numerous places around the world including the Philippines and her recent trip to Toronto. Mom was known and will be remembered for her generous heart and loyalty to her family. She leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memory, her husband of 53 years, Hannes Bell; sons, Hannes Jr. of Selkirk, Wesley (Helen) of Manigatogan, Dwight (Marcia) of Selkirk, Miles (Gail) of Matheson Island, Terry (Joanne), Bruce (Nola), Barry of Selkirk and daughter Lovisa Whiteway (Melvin) of Matheson Island; 19 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister Cecil-May Johnson of Winnipeg; brothers, Pat Wood of Thunder Bay, Ont. and Isaac Wood of Red Lake, Ont., as well as numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Mildred and John Wood; sisters, Maggie Anderson, Mildred Niesen, Gertrude Henrickson, Grace Boulette, Burma Lauder, Mamie Olsen and brothers, Robert, Albert and Johnny. Prayers will be held Wednesday, January 4 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk, Man. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 5 at 2:00 p.m. in the Manigatogan Recreation Hall in Manigatogan, Man. with Rev. Peter Cain officiating. Interment Manigatogan Anglican Graveyard. Her sons will be her pallbearers and grandsons will be honorary pallbearers. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to Native Ministries, 600 Shaftsbury Blvd., Winnipeg. We love you Mom. You will always be with us in our hearts. MISS ME BUT LET ME GO When I come to the end of the road And the sun has set for me Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little, but not too long And not with your head bowed low. Remember the love that we once shared, Miss me, but let me go. For this is a journey we all must take And each must go alone, Its part of the Masters plan, A step on the road to home. So when you are lonely and sick at heart Go to the friends we know And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Selkirk Home Care, all the girls for all their care for mom, especially Debbie, Cleo and Sally. Thank you to Dr. Fuchs, nurses and staff at the Selkirk and District General Hospital for all their care and support. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
